My Accountants NW Ltd

Legal

Terms of business

Last updated 15 October 2026

These are the standard terms on which My Accountants NW Ltd works for clients. Your engagement letter sets out exactly which services we provide and your fee. If the two ever disagree, the engagement letter wins.

What we do

We provide the accountancy, bookkeeping, payroll and compliance services listed in your engagement letter. Anything not listed there is outside our engagement unless we agree it in writing.

We are not tax or financial advisers. Where you need that advice, we can introduce you to a partner firm, who will contract with you directly.

Your responsibilities

  • Give us complete, accurate information and records on time.
  • Tell us promptly about changes to your business, personal circumstances or contact details.
  • Check and approve accounts and returns before we submit them. You remain legally responsible for them.
  • Keep your own business records for as long as the law requires.

Our responsibilities

  • Carry out the work with reasonable skill and care, following our professional body's standards.
  • Meet filing deadlines where you have given us what we need in good time.
  • Keep your information confidential, except where the law requires us to disclose it.

Fees and payment

Your fee is set out in your engagement letter. Work outside the agreed scope is quoted before we start. Invoices are payable within the terms stated on them, and we may pause work on accounts that are overdue.

Identity checks

The Money Laundering Regulations 2017 require us to verify the identity of every client before we start and to keep those checks up to date. We are also legally required to report suspicions to the National Crime Agency and cannot tell you if we have done so.

Records and documents

Original documents you give us remain yours and will be returned. We keep our working papers for six years after the engagement ends, then securely destroy them.

Data protection

We process your personal data as set out in our privacy notice, and in line with UK GDPR.

Limitation of liability

Our liability is limited to the amount set out in your engagement letter. We are not liable for losses caused by information you gave us that was late, incomplete or wrong. Nothing limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud.

Ending the engagement

Either of us can end the engagement by giving written notice. You pay for work done up to that point, and we will hand over to your new accountant promptly and professionally.

Complaints and law

If you are unhappy with our service, please follow our complaints procedure. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
